Unlike most mortars in Indonesia carved from volcanic basalt, agricultural communities across Java hand carved their mortars from limestone. 

These mortars were used to pound and grind rice, corn and herbal medicines. 

Use them as planters, water features or maybe even a sink... Options are endless.
